"Art is an anthropological experiment for me. A person is just a lump: a lump of nucleus and possibilities, of which he foresees little and many of which he refuses a priori ... But there is art with its imaginativeness to make up for it. It extends the dimensions of men by remembering the stages of evolution. It makes a development possible, in which all nuclei experience a first clarification and only after that, a social rededication becomes mankind-like."
