Studied at the University of Fine Arts in Berlin until 1946.
Participant at the Documenta II (1959) III (1964) in Kassel.
From 1964 professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Düsseldorf.
1972 to 1981 Director of the Academy of Fine Arts in Düsseldorf.
Died in 1984 in Düsseldorf.
